RUA DAS PEDRAS
The main street and the most visited location in Búzios, with 600 meters of irregular stones pavement, Rua das Pedras, is considered an outdoor mall, with most cheerful bars, restaurants, boutiques, movie theater, night clubs and souvenirs establishments. The street transmits all of authentic Búzios’ lifestyle.
ORLA BARDOT BOARDWALK
With a view to the sea and lots of small and colorful fishermen boats, Orla Bardot, is a picturesque sidewalk, that follows tha famous Rua das Pedras. Sculputres in bronze made by the Brazilian artist Christina Motta, are exposed to connect the city with the regional and historical traditionalism. One of the sculptures, are the famous three seamen pulling a fishing net (chosen as the most beautiful and original sculpture by the specialized site Artsinterface.org), President Juscelino Kubitschek and the internationally known tribute statue of Brigitte Bardot, sitting on her own suitcase. The walk extends to the right side of Armação Beach, where it’is possible to find the subtle Saint’Anne church, a building from the XVIII century, the only one from the whaling time, still all in white and with a panoramic view.
One of the best ways to know the city and Búzios’ islands is through a variety of boat tours. It’s not only a typical local tour, but also a very romantic option, specially followed by a champagne bottle. In these private tours on fishermen boats it’s possible to better appreciate the natural beauty of the peninsula with more privacy, and it also gives you the freedom to plan your own itinerary.
To autonomous diving, with the use of scuba tanks, the best place is Ancora Island, which is located six miles away from the coast and half an hour by motorboat, where it’s possible to have visibility on the average of 12 meters deep.
STAND UP ON THE BEACHES
For calm water lovers; Manguinhos, Rasa and Ferradurinha beaches are excellent options, especially because all of them count with rentable stand up paddles and professional instructors. Windless days are perfect to practice this sport.
Because of the peninsula´s ‘good’ winds, this sport is specially played at Rasa and Manguinhos beaches, and for the ones fond of radical sports, Geribá is an ideal place. Many schools offer from basic to intensive courses, besides private classes.
It is possible to rent buggies to fully and more freely enjoy all attractions. An itinerary suggestion is to begin in João Fernandes, visiting lookouts between the beaches, then going to Brava beach to have after lunch at Rocka Beach Lounge, Ponta da Lagoinha, Ferradura Beach and closing with a sunset at Porto da Barra.
The city is on a small peninsula of a peculiar shape with more than 20 beaches to be astonished by. A helicopter tour offers the chance to observe the city from a remarkable angle, making the experience unforgettable. The tours are up to 3 people, led by a tourist guide who shares interesting local facts and curiosities while enjoying a panoramic view of all of Buzios’ beaches.
PORTO DA BARRA
Besides the traditional fish market in Búzios there is the surprising Porto da Barra. It is a gastronomic, shopping and leisure space, structured in line with nature, 10 minutes by car from Abracadabra Pousada. It is located at Manguinhos’ beach and a small mangrove house to crabs, fishes and even shrimps, where the afternoon endings count with an outstanding sunset. There are great options of restaurants, most bestowed by the sunset and the ocean view. You can also enjoy everything flavoring the delicious options of Belli Belli Gastrobar and some dessert at La Basque ice cream shop.
Designed by the world-renowned golf designers Pete and Perry Dye, Búzios Golf Club Resort is considered one of the best golf courses of Latin America. Appraising the original geometric shapes, the architects and designers turned the field into a genuine masterpiece framed by the nature surrounding it. There are 18 holes along the course in an area of a million square meters, counting with slopes, sandbank and ponds.
Every year, in November, Búzios hosts a cinematographic marathon that contemplates the best of the cinema and brings to the city many actors and producers. The heart of this festival is the Grand Cine Bardot. The self-effacing street movie theater has a singular style, always bringing movies out of the mass circuit.
